Solar Thermal Heating

Introduction

This is an environmentally-friendly way of providing hot water using the energy from the sun. A collector is mounted facing the sun, typically on a roof, and fluid pumped through it to be heated. In temperate climates like the UK, this fluid is normally an anti-freeze/water mixture which can withstand both the high temperatures reached on a sunny day and the freezing temperatures of a winter night. This heated fluid is then circulated through a heat exchanger in a hot water cylinder, which can dramatically reduce the need for it's convential heating via a boiler.

Products we recommend

Flat Panel Fully Pressurised

Solar thermal panels A Grant Solar Thermal system can provide up to 70% of a household's domestic hot water requirements per annum.

Solar PV

This is an enironmentally-friendly way of generating electricty from daylight, and is the world's fastest-growing energy technology. A photovoltaic collector is mounted facing the sun, typically on a roof, which converts light into DC electricity which is converted into AC electricty, the same as supplied by your electricity company. Unlike solar thermal systems, this doesn't involve any changes to your plumbing.
